Hoo hum. Nothing to see here folks. Just another case of the New England Patriots beating the New York Jets yet again. Jets fans sit around their homes wondering how their team could get better. Well, you could start by firing your incumbent head coach Rex Ryan and replacing him with someone who's actually capable of pulling their head out of their ass and coaching a football game. The Jets are a big-time dumpster fire and as of right now, I'm starting to worry that the Jets could finish with the worst record in the league, which would give them a great shot to grab Marcus Mariota with the top pick in the draft. As a fan of Marcus Mariota, I'm praying that scenario doesn't happen. The Jets are a mess of a franchise in the NFL and they once again showed it this past week when they traded for Seahawks WR Percy Harvin.
The Seahawks were reportedly so desperate to get rid of Harvin that they were calling any NFL team that would listen so they could offer up Harvin. It's not that Harvin isn't a good player, he's an average player with a star-player mentality. He's a chemistry killer in he locker-room and you could tell by watching Seattle's offense with Harvin in the line-up this season. Something was wrong with them, but now they have seemingly fixed the problem and the problem is wearing green and white now. If you think that Percy Harvin is going to work in New York, you're dead wrong. Go ahead and start throwing dirt on this guy's NFL career. As for the Patriots, they are once again one of the creams of the crop in the AFC. Quite a turn around for this team after the beating the Kansas City Chiefs gave them a few weeks back. Sometimes you just need to get your ass kicked to wake you up and that appears to be what's happened with the Pats.

This game was definitely a "tale of two different teams". Atlanta is a mess, but a very talented one. Personally, I think most of Atlanta's problems stem from their head coach. Let's be honest here people, Mike Smith is just not a good NFL head coach. I remember thinking the exact same thing when I watched the Falcons on HBO's "Hard Knocks" this season and when I watch this team play, I find myself shaking my head more often than not. The Falcons should be looking closely at the college football world, because there's a plethora of head coaches that are better suited to coach this team (Gus Malzahn, Kevin Sumlin, and Jimbo Fisher just to name a few). As for the Ravens, they are good folks. I picked this team to win the AFC North for a reason and I'm glad to see they are making me look smart for now. This is a very well-coached team and as of right now, they look like a dark horse team to contend for the Super Bowl. Remember what happened the last time the Ravens were considered a dark horse team to win the Super Bowl?

You know what's going on right now in Seattle?
I'm here to tell you guys to r-e-l-a-x (call up Aaron Rodgers if need be). Losses happen in the NFL and you aren't going to win them all. First of all, this has been an emotional few days for Seattle. The team ended up trading one of their most important players and who knows what kind of drama that move caused. The bottom line is, the Seahawks had to move Harvin because the guy was a chemistry killer in the locker room and Seattle is going to be fine without him. They made it to the Super Bowl last year without the guy and let's be honest here...the Rams aren't that bad of a football team, especially on defense. The Seahawks barely beat the Rams in St. Louis last year and it was another close game this year. If the bandwagon fans want to jump off the Seattle bandwagon, then let them. Everything will be fine once playoff time comes as long as they are playing in the Pacific Northwest. Put down the pitch forks.....

It seems like it was such a long long time ago when we were secretly wondering if the Cincinnati Bengals were the best team in the AFC. Well, we can go ahead and squash those thoughts now. Now, we are all wondering whether or not the Bengals are even talented enough to get into the playoffs, where it's there that they let usually let their fan base down. Let me just point this out real quick. The Indianapolis Colts are not that good on defense. They were the 21st ranked defense going into this game and they shut out the Bengals. If Cincinnati couldn't get things going against the 21st ranked defense in a regular season game, what will happen if this team does get things turned around and they meet this same team in the playoffs? How confident can the Bengals and their fans be that Marvin Lewis and company can flip the switch? I'm not one who likes to call for a guy's head (LOL), but I've been saying for years that the Bengals need a change at the head coaching level and this may finally be the season it happens. As for the Colts, they have Andrew Luck so they are still one of the creams of the crop in the National Football League. Sometimes it's good to be rich.

This was a must-win for the Bills in order to remain competitive in the AFC East. They are still only one game behind the Patriots and remain in it with this win over Minnesota. Bills fans shouldn't get too excited though because it's not like the Vikings are exactly a good football team. Minnesota has a rookie quarterback and head coach who are dealing with the loss of their best player (Adrian Peterson) due to some unfortunate legal stuff. A win over Minnesota is nice, but you're still not taking the prettiest girl in the school to the dance. Next week's game against the Jets is a big one for the Bills because if they somehow blow that one, then it looks like another lost season in Buffalo.

If you had told me before the season started that when the Saints faced the Lions in week 7, one of the teams would be 2-4 and the other one would be 5-2, I wouldn't have been shocked. However, if you had told me that the team that was 2-4 was New Orleans and the team that was 5-2 was Detroit, I probably would have punched you in the face. Mindless violence aside, that's exactly what is going on right now in the NFL. I picked the Saints to get all the way to the NFC Championship, but now I'm not even sure they are going to still be in the playoff hunt in 4 weeks. I wish I could tell what their problem is, but it looks like a variation of things. They don't look good defensively, and they lack consistent play-makers on offense. If this team can get it turned around and actually get things rolling again, they can be dangerous. As of right now though, they are one-game better than the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now the Lions, they are a different story. Everyone keeps waiting patiently for the Lions to come out and screw it all up, but once again, they find a way to win. Just imagine what's going to happen when they actually get their best offensive player (Calvin Johnson) back on the field in uniform. Are we seriously overlooking these Lions and just chalking them up as a flash in the pan?

Remember after week one when Seattle crushed the Packers at home and everyone wanted to just give Seattle the Super Bowl trophy again and declare Green Bay "dead on arrival"?
Boy we're we all stupid. The Packers look like one of the best teams in the NFC and they look much more r-e-l-a-x-e-d now than they were when they played the Seachickens last month. I'd like to see a rematch of that game, because as of right now....the Packers look like the better football team. As for Carolina, it's probably time to just tank the season. The Panthers have the look and feel of an 8-8 team and that does nothing to help you when it comes time for the NFL Draft. 4-12 and 5-11 sound painful at first, but they look much better when you can grab an elite player with a top 5 pick.

I just don't know how far a beaten up old Carson Palmer is going to take you, especially come playoff time. We are almost to the mid-point of the season and the Dallas Cowboys are 6-1 and are arguably the best team in the NFC (I'm not saying that, but some people are). Every year there's a "pop" team that comes out of nowhere in the NFL. Last year, it was the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs went on to win the first 9 games of the season, but the entire time everyone just talked them down because they knew they weren't THAT good. The year before the Chiefs, it was the Indianapolis Colts. The thing about the "pop" team is, they never win come playoff time. They look good during the regular season, but come post-season time, the "pop" team goes back to being what they were. No one knew who that team was going to be this year (the popular choices were the Houston Texans and the Tampa Bay Bucs), but it's looking like it could be the Dallas Cowboys. Yes, the Cowboys look good right now, but so did the 2013 Chiefs and the 2012 Colts at this time of the season. Sorry if I remain a little skeptical Cowboys fans, but things get turned up in the post-season and I'll remain a doubter until you get past that hump. Plus, one has to wonder if DeMarco Murray is going to be able to continue to play at this pace considering Dallas is running him into the ground at this point (Murray has almost 40 more rushing attempts than any other running back in the NFL), especially in the later parts of the year. But hey, enjoy it while it lasts. HOW ABOUT THEM COWBOYS?!?!?!

I try to keep my bias towards my favorite team off of this blog, but SCREW IT! The Kansas City Chiefs were like 1-11 in the last 12 meetings against the San Diego Chargers, but they finally beat them and in San Diego no less! Is it just me or are the KC Chiefs quietly a really good football team? They beat the ever-loving crap out of the New England Patriots, they beat the Chargers in San Diego, they whooped the Dolphins in Miami and they lost close games to the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers (I won't even talk about that week one loss to Tennessee....). The Chiefs are a much better football team than myself or anyone else is giving them credit for. The Chargers are one of the best teams in the AFC and I thought there was no way KC could go in and win this game, but I have never been more happy to be wrong. Can the Chiefs make the playoffs? Maybe. But I don't really care because whenever they win in San Diego, I be like....
