NBA Quick Round-Up: Volume 4

Regular readers of this here blog will know that one of our main missions on this wonderful site is to round-up everything that has happened in a certain sport and deliver it to you in a giant heaping. We do it with the NFL and college football and now it's time to start keeping up on all the NBA action as well.

Sports can be a confusing mess sometimes with everything that happens on a daily basis. The NBA is the perfect example of this. With 30 teams playing multiple games a week, it can get overwhelming for the average NBA fan. The goal of this NBA Round-Up is to keep you informed with what's currently going on in the National Basketball Association.

Dustin James' 2016 [PRE-COMBINE] NFL MOCK DRAFT!

NFL Draft season is officially in high gear, which mean it's time!

YES! I SAID IT'S TIME!

IT'S TIME FOR THE FIRST MOCK DRAFT OF THE YEAR AT THE ULTIMATE SPORTS BLOG!

Are you excited? Well, you should be. Long time readers of the blog know how important the NFL Draft is to me. It's arguably my favorite sporting "event" of the year and I just absolutely gobble up every single bit of information I can. I've been doing mock drafts for over 10 years now and I hate to toot my own horn, but I'm pretty good at it.

This is the first of many NFL mock drafts I will do this year. I plan on doing a pre-combine mock. A post-combine mock. A post-NFL free agency mock and of course...the final mock draft of the year which will come right before the draft in April.

ARE YOU PUMPED YET? IF NOT, CHECK YOUR PULSE!

1. Tennessee Titans - Joey Bosa (DE), Ohio State

I feel like the Titans best option is to try and trade the pick to get more assets. With franchise QB Marcus Mariota looking like he could be the real deal, the Titans need to start giving him weapons and trying to protect him (he took way too many hits last year because of the miserable OL). Some WR's, a RB, and some new OL would certainly help this team take the next step next season. If trading the pick isn't a good option, then take the best player in the draft. Defensive end Joey Bosa will be a defensive terror in the NFL. The Denver Broncos just showed us once again that you can win a Super Bowl with an anemic offense as long as the defense is unreal. Bosa helps point the Titans in that direction.

NFL 2016 Off-Season Guide #2

The NFL off-season is here. Considering we won't have any football on our T.V. screens for the next six months, the NFL's off-season is what keeps most American men from committing acts of random violence due to the lack of football being played. The NFL off-season gives every team some hope for next season. Every single NFL fan is thinking the same thing right now....

"Man, we need some new players at [insert position here]."

"I sure would love to see my team get rid of [insert player here]."

Well guess what?

That's about to happen.

NFL teams are already in full swing building the "guts" of their football team. Even though free agency doesn't start until March 15, NFL teams can sign veterans who have been cut by other teams right now in an effort to improve next season.

So, how is the average NFL fan supposed to keep track of all the madness that goes on during the off-season from all 32 NFL teams? With hundreds of players switching teams, it can all be a little overwhelming to keep track of. That's why this column is here though.

The Ultimate Sports Blog's NFL Off-season Guide is put together on a weekly basis to help YOU keep track of who's getting cut, who's signing new contracts, and any potential trades that go down. If there's a roster move, it'll be listed here. That's how we do it around here.

How's Your Favorite NFL Team's Salary Cap Situation? (AFC)

Salary Cap.

Those words alone are enough to drive fear into every single football fan.

You can watch all the football you want. You can read all the articles you want. Hell, you can even study every single NFL players contract until the whites of your eyes explode and there's a good chance you will still end up confused as shit in the end. That's what the NFL's salary cap will do to you.

For those of you unfamiliar with it, the salary cap is put in place to help provide some "parity" in the league. Rather than letting the richest owners in the sport pay whatever they want for whatever player they want, the salary cap is in place to help stop guys like Jerry Jones from buying every single high profile free agent. The league sets a number that each team can spend on players, and you can't go over that number.

It's a rather interesting concept, but one that most people will need a degree to figure out. That's why this article is here. The majority of NFL fans have no idea what their favorite teams cap situation looks like. Well, we got you covered today.

The following is a list of every single NFL team's salary cap situation. Does your favorite team have it all figured out? To do that, they need to do the following:

-The highest paid players on the team should be the BEST players on the team. If they aren't, you have a problem.

-Does your team have enough money to retain your own top free agents?

-Does your team have enough money to add some valuable pieces in free agency?

The answers to all those questions and more are just below.....

*Only players who are under contract for next season are listed.

*Top 5 Highest Players is on a per-year basis, not the overall value of the contract.

Baltimore Ravens:

Top 5 Highest Paid Players:

Joe Flacco (QB) - $20,100,000

Jimmy Smith (CB) - $10,275,500

Marshal Yanda (G) - $7,979,412

Eugene Monroe (LT) - $7,500,000

Dennis Pitta (TE) - $6,400,000

Estimated Salary Cap Space: $6,000,000

NBA Playoff Picture for February 15-21

NBA All-Star Weekend is officially a wrap. You know what that means, right?

THAT'S RIGHT GUYS! It's finally time to start paying attention to the NBA!

Every hardcore NBA fan knows what All-Star weekend really represents to the NBA. It represents a time when the switch goes from "halfway on" to "ON". This is the time when NBA players really turn it up because they know what's right around the corner.

And what's right around the corner you ask?

DING DING DING! That's correct. The NBA playoffs are right around the corner and if there's one thing the NBA does extremely well....it's playoff basketball. Most NBA fans don't really start paying attention to the NBA until after All-Star weekend. Football is finally over and ASW turns the attention to the NBA because the players are playing harder and the fans are actually watching. With the playoffs looming, we get some of the best regular season basketball that we can ask for because every team is playing for a playoff spot.

So which teams are currently in the lead for a playoff spot and what would the playoffs look like if they started today?

Glad you asked because I have the answers.

On The University of Louisville Men's Basketball Postseason Ban

This is a trying time for me as a sports fan. Football season is over. Baseball season is coming, but the Reds aren't going to do much of anything anyway. The Preds are a borderline playoff team so that's kinda fun, but usually this time of year is when I focus my full attention on college basketball. As an alumni of the University of Louisville that attended a good number of games during my time there, basketball season's a pretty good time. Especially now that the Cardinals are in the ACC and playing schools like Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, Syracuse and other schools that rank among the best past & present programs.

Good times, right? Wrong! A distressing matter popped up during last off-season that figured to be problematic down the road. I was hoping to avoid having to comment on this for some time yet, but the University of Louisville decided to make a news dump on the Friday before the Super Bowl. Yeah, not suspicious at all, right? I figure the best thing to do as a Louisville graduate is to address the situation now. That way nobody can accuse me of ducking the issue and I don't have to comment on it any further.

The One Free Agent Your Favorite NFL Team Wants (AFC edition)

NFL Free Agency is right around the corner. It's so close, we can almost taste it!

So, with that said, I think it's time to take a look at the ONE unrestricted free agent that every single NFL team would sign if they could.

Who's the one free agent that could turn your favorite NFL team's fortunes around next year?

Von Miller?

Josh Norman?

Kirk Cousins?

Doug Martin?

Alshon Jeffery?

Only one way to find out......

AFC East

Buffalo Bills - Muhammad Wilkerson (DE)

The Bills need to give Rex Ryan a new defensive end who is able to play five technique. Buffalo currently has Mario Williams and Jerry Hughes as their defensive ends, but Williams' play has dropped off so significantly that he likely won't be back next season. Wilkerson would instantly give the Bills some depth and one of the best players in the league at that position.

Miami Dolphins - Von Miller (OLB)

It's no secret that the Dolphins need linebackers. They have taken some risks drafting them in recent years and haven't had a whole lot of luck. Miller is arguably the best linebacker in the league and the addition of him on that defense along with Ndamukong Suh and the Dolphins might finally be able to push Tom Brady out of first place in the division.

New England Patriots - Alshon Jeffery (WR)

Tom Brady isn't getting any younger, but he's still one of the best QB's in the league. How about we make the few remaining years he has left in this league as comforting as possible? Brady hasn't had a true #1 WR in forever. Bringing Alshon Jeffery into New England would immediately make him and Brady one of the scariest units in the league.

New York Jets - Von Miller (OLB)

The Jets were one of the surprise teams from this last season and they need to continue building on that momentum. It's no surprise that they need linebackers in the worst way. Putting Von Miller on Todd Bowles' defense is sending shivers down the spines of offensive coordinators everywhere.

The One Free Agent Your Favorite NFL Team Wants (NFC Edition)

NFL Free Agency is right around the corner. It's so close, we can almost taste it!

So, with that said, I think it's time to take a look at the ONE unrestricted free agent that every single NFL team would sign if they could.

Who's the one free agent that could turn your favorite NFL team's fortunes around next year?

Von Miller?

Josh Norman?

Kirk Cousins?

Doug Martin?

Alshon Jeffery?

Only one way to find out......

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys - Josh Norman (CB)

Dallas is one of those teams that could go numerous ways here. They need a pass rusher, a cornerback, and someone who can potentially fill-in when Romo goes down. However, I'm going with corner here because that's arguably Dallas' biggest weakness. Morris Claiborne is a free agent and the Cowboys will likely let the disappointing former first-round pick walk. Brandon Carr is in the last year of his contract, but he's also been disappointing since arriving in Dallas. The addition of Norman to go along with the returning Orlando Scandrick would give Cowboys' fans something to get excited for in the secondary.

New York Giants - Von Miller (OLB)

The Giants need a pass rusher. Von Miller is one of the best pass rushers (if not THE best) in the NFL. Somethings are just meant to be.

Philadelphia Eagles - Alshon Jeffery (WR)

Who's going to be QB for the Eagles next year? No one knows. Are the Eagles going to bring Sam Bradford back? It's a possibility, but if they do....why not give him a huge target to throw to? Jeffery was one of the best WR's in the league before injuries took it's toll on him last season. Something tells me he's going to have a huge year in 2016 and the Eagles need wide receiver help in the worst possible way. Fly Eagles Fly? Only if you get Jeffery.

Washington Redskins - Muhammad Wilkerson (DE)

The Redskins have some questions regarding their defensive line heading into the off-season. They face the realistic possibility of Jason Hatcher retiring and Terrance Knighton leaving in free agency and if that happens, they'll have a huge hole on the defensive line. Muhammad Wilkerson solves that problem the minute the ink from his pen touches the contract.

Why Your Favorite NFL Team Will/Won't Win The Super Bowl Next Year

The NFL season is over.

I know. It sucks.

But we have some good news!

We are just about six months away from NEXT SEASON!

That's right! It's not a time to get depressed! It's a time to celebrate because the NFL season is just six months away!

In the meantime, let's take a look at why YOUR favorite NFL team either will or won't win the Super Bowl next year.

Sounds fun, am I right?

Arizona Cardinals

Why the Cardinals will win the Super Bowl next year: They are one of the most well constructed teams in the NFL. They made it all the way to the NFC championship this season and another year of playing together and adding some more pieces easily makes the Cardinals one of the favorites to win it all next year.

Why the Cardinals won't win the Super Bowl next year: Carson Palmer isn't getting any younger and he still remains a mystery to everyone in the playoffs. Palmer was an MVP candidate for most of the 2015 season, but he stunk up the joint in the playoffs. If the Cardinals don't win it all next year, it'll probably be because of the QB position.

Slammin' Stevie Cook's Super Bowl 50 Game & Prop Bet Predictions!

Hi, hello & welcome to Super Bowl Week! I'm Slammin' Stevie Cook, and we've finally reached the end of the NFL season. It seems like yesterday we were wondering who would beat the New England Patriots and if anybody in the NFC South would be good this year. We've figured out the answers to those questions, and on Sunday night we'll find out who's the best.

One of the best things about the Super Bowl is that pretty much everything has some kind of wager attached to it. Everybody's made some kind of bet on the Super Bowl, and the good people in Vegas give us all sorts of crazy things to bet on. We'll take a look at what I think are some of the more interesting prop bets this season before settling down and making a bet on the game itself. So for one last time this year...LET'S HOOK EM UP!

Will Peyton Manning announce his retirement in the postgame interview?

Cook's Pick: NO

I think this is Peyton's last game. I don't think he wants to make it about himself though, which is why he's been telling friends and not telling media. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that wants to do a farewell tour, or retire multiple times or hem & haw about coming back or not. When he's done, he'll be done & that'll be it. I could end up being completely wrong, because I probably would have said the same thing about Brett Favre before his saga began. But with all of this in mind, I think that Peyton will wait until after Super Bowl Sunday, call a press conference in Denver at some point in the future and announce his retirement there. I don't think he'll want to upstage the game itself, no matter which team ends up winning, by announcing immediately afterwards.

Top 25 NBA Jersey/Uniforms of All-Time

Yesterday here at THE Ultimate Sports Blog I ranked my personal favorite NFL jerseys of all-time.

Today we are going to mix things up a little bit.

That's right.

Today we are going to rank my top 25 personal favorite NBA jersey/uniforms of all-time.

Top 20 NFL Uniforms of All-Time

Since the NFL season is pretty much gone already, it's getting hard to come up with things to write about in regards to my favorite sport. So that left me with just a few options.

Do I just not write about the NFL this week?

Nah.

Do I come up with something outlandish and absolutely ridiculous to write about?

DING DING DING! WE HAVE A WINNER!

The one thing I've noticed about NFL fans is that they are super sensitive anytime you talk about their team. If you mention something you don't like about a certain NFL team, you will quickly get met with a chorus of angry villagers holding torches who want to see your house burned down to the ground. It's fun. It really is.

So, how will I anger those fans this week?

BY RANKING MY FAVORITE ALL-TIME NFL UNIFORMS EVER!

Why? Because if you can't debate what's happening on the football field at the time, the next best thing to debate is how good/bad your favorite team looks. Nothing gets people worked up quicker than when you mention how stupid their teams looks in their retro uniforms that they never should have brought back (looking at you Pittsburgh Steelers & Green Bay Packers).

That's what I'm doing here today. Ranking my personal favorite NFL uniforms of all-time. Did you get that? It's MY PERSONAL list of MY favorite uniforms of all-time. Not yours. Not your neighbors. Not your dogs. MINE!

Before you read on though, you should know a few things about my taste in uniforms. First of all, I love throwback uniforms. I just do. There's something about nostalgia that gets my pants tight and retro uniforms bring me back to a simpler time. Also, I love the color BLUE (especially light blue) and anything NEON (I'm an 80's child, we all love neon) or black.

Got it? I love blue, throwback uniforms, black, and neon. Those things will definitely factor into my rankings so don't be a troll and try and troll me or I will troll your troll looking face with my fists.

TIME FOR A HAPPY DANCE!!!!!!
