Uppers & Downers
These are the NFL Draft prospects who's names are either rising among NFL teams or dropping like flies.
Uppers:
Bud Dupree, EDGE, Kentucky - Dupree's name is rising quick among NFL teams. He's gone from being a second-round guy to likely going in the top 10 of the draft. The Atlanta Falcons are reportedly doing their home work and are extremely interested in grabbing Dupree with the 8th pick should he be available.
Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon - No one has been knocked down in the draft process more than Marcus Mariota has. It seems like every week the temperature on Mariota's NFL stock changes. This week, due to certain circumstances....his name got hot again. NFL draft expert Mike Mayock made a splash when he moved Mariota ahead of Winston in his QB rankings and that was followed up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers traveling to Eugene to work out with Mariota. While most of us have thought that the Bucs taking Winston was a sure thing over the last two months, it seems like we may want to pump the brakes on that. Mariota could still be in play for the top overall pick.
Kevin Johnson, CB, Wake Forest - Kid is a stud and the more I see him on tape, the more I become convinced that someone is going to get themselves a hell of a player in the late first-round. Johnson could be the best corner in this draft.
DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville - DeVante Parker is a guy that already has a lot of buzz surrounding him. Why not add some more? Bleacher Report released an article this week that claims that Parker could be this year's version of Odell Beckham Jr. That's some extremely high praise considering OBJ is already considered an elite level talent at WR.
Downers:
Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State - For the first time since the draft process really got started, Winston's stock is taking a hit. There are still a plethora of NFL teams that are worried about Winston's off-the-field issues among other things. That's the main reason NFL draft expert Mike Mayock recently moved Marcus Mariota over Winston in his rankings. We all know Winston can play, but what if he does something extremely stupid off-the-field and costs the team in the long run? Is that gamble worth the first overall pick?
Landon Collins, S, Alabama - ESPN's Louis Riddick (one of the best talent evaluators out there) tweeted out this week that Collins isn't worth a first-round pick and is far from a sure thing. That has caused some people to panic, especially teams with a need at safety. Collins is considered the best safety prospect in the draft and if he's not worth a first-round pick, that's not good for teams with a need at that position.
Leonard Williams, DL, USC - Another guy that Riddick isn't too high on is Leonard Williams. Riddick has expressed some concern with Williams' ability to rush the passer. ProFootballFocus.com released their extremely-detailed college football stats this past week and Riddick pointed out how awful Williams was at rushing the passer. Most defensive lineman taken in the first-round should be excellent pass rushers. Williams isn't. Buyer's beware. He could be the next Glenn Dorsey.
