Don't look now, but the college football season is quickly approaching. We currently have spring games going on all over the country as teams try to tweak their rosters in an effort to put out the best possible team when the season starts in September (or is it late-August?). With so many question marks regarding each team's roster, it's best to stay away from making any kinds of predictions until we know for sure who's actually going to be on the field. One thing we do know for sure though is, which head coaches are going to be leading each team next fall. So, why not pick on them instead....right?
I shouldn't have to tell you guys how important coaching is in football. Out of all the big time professional sports, I think coaching is most important in the game of football. There are so many variables that can determine a football game's outcome, but one thing we know for sure is, if you have a great football coach (Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, etc.), you are going to win a lot of games. In the college football world, coaches are not only expected to perform big on game day, but they also play a massive part in recruiting. Great recruits want to play for great coaches who can help develop them into potential NFL studs which makes hiring a great college coach that much more important.
So, who are the best coaches in college football? That's a question we are looking to answer with this column.
