UFC 194 Results

It's the "biggest UFC show of all-time" and I used to be one of the world's biggest UFC fans. Of course I'm going to LIVE BLOG this card.

So, for the FIRST TIME EVER! UFC ON THE ULTIMATE SPORTS BLOG!!!!

UFC 194
"Aldo vs. McGregor"

Live Blog

I'm not covering the prelim fights here, but if you missed them....they went something like this:

First Fight:

Max Holloway (14-3) vs. Jeremy Stephens (24-11)

Scorecard:

Round 1 - Max Holloway (10-9)

Round 2 - Max Holloway (10-9)

Round 3 - Max Holloway (10-9)

Official Result: Max Holloway via Unanimous-Decision

Not a whole lot of action in the first two-rounds of the fight, but the pace started to pick up in the third once the fight hit the ground. This was one of those fights where the two combatants are fantastic strikers and "respected" each other too much to really start throwing like we're used to. YAWN. Let's just move on and act like this one never happened.....

Second Fight:

Demian Maia (21-6) vs. Gunnar Nelson (14-1-1)

Scorecard:

Round 1 - Demian Maia (10-9)

Round 2 - Demian Maia (10-9)

Round 3 - Demian Maia (10-8)

Official Result: Demain Maia by Unanimous-Decision

Domination. That's what this was. Demian Maia had this fight in the bag from the first-round and it was never really in question. By the middle of the second-round, Nelson looked absolutely gassed and by the third-round...he was ready to call it a day. I was kind of disappointed that Maia couldn't submit Nelson in the later rounds when it was obvious that he had given up, but oh well. You don't always get what you want. Somehow, Maia is like a fine wine and just gets better with age. It feels like Maia has been fighting in the UFC forever now and it may only be a matter of time before he gets another title shot. With performances like this one, he deserves it.

Third Fight:

Ronaldo Souza (22-3) vs. Yoel Romero (10-1)

Scorecard:

Round 1 - Yoel Romero (10-9)

Round 2 - Ronaldo Souza (10-9)

Round 3 - Ronaldo Souza (10-9)

Official Result: Yoel Romero via Split-Decision

This was a pretty good fight. Yoel Romero came out looking amazing in the first-round. He absolutely dominated "Jacare" and almost finished him in the first....but then that was all he had. He ran out of energy and the fight started to swing in favor of Souza. It was a pretty close fight that really could have gone either way depending on how you score MMA fights, that's why I wasn't surprised by the split-decision outcome. I personally had "Jacare" winning the fight but....

Fourth Fight:

UFC Middleweight Title

Chris Weidman (13-0) vs. Luke Rockhold (14-2)

Scorecard:

Round 1 - Chris Weidman (10-9)

Round 2 - Luke Rockhold (10-9)

Round 3 - Luke Rockhold (10-9)

Official Result: Luke Rockhold def. Chris Weidman via TKO in Round 4

This was a fantastic fight. I'm a happy man because Chris Weidman took a beating and as everyone knows, I'm not a fan of Weidman. Anyone who beats my boy Anderson Silva twice can go straight to hell. Therefore, this was a great fight because Weidman got his ass handed to him. At first, things didn't look good for Rockhold, but the tide eventually turned in his favor and the beating commenced. I'm not legally supposed to post UFC fights on this blog (Dana White will sue me), but this is what it looked like in cased you missed it....

Ladies and gentlemen, your NEW UFC middleweight champion...Luke Rockhold!

Fifth Fight:

UFC Featherweight Title

Jose Aldo (25-1) vs. Conor McGregor (18-2)

Scorecard:

Official Result: Conor McGregor def. Jose Aldo via KO in Round 1

Well, that just happened. Fastest title fight in UFC history. McGregor knocks out Aldo with just one punch. Thanks for coming everyone!
