NFL Round-Up: Week 17

It's over. The NFL regular season has wrapped up and everything we love about this world is officially gone.

Let's try and get through this together people. If you have my back, I'll have yours. I know it sucks, but we have to try and re-build and keep living our lives otherwise the terrorists (otherwise known as the NFL off-season) will win.

DON'T LET THEM WIN GUYS!!!!!

WE CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway............

It's time to talk about some football.......

So................

Sit back........

Put the kids outside...........

Tell the wife to leave you alone.........

IT'S TIME............................................

NFL Round-Up

Week 17

The Scoreboard
(A recap of all the action from the past week in the NFL....)

*Due to time restraints, the Monday Night Football games are not included in The Scoreboard

It's a NEW YEAR everyone! That means it's time for NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS for EVERY SINGLE NFL TEAM this week in the NFL Round-Up! Try and contain your excitement guys.

New York Jets (10-6): 17      Buffalo Bills (8-8): 22

In 2016, the New York Jets' New Year's resolution should be:

Find a young franchise QB who you can blossom into a potential superstar. The Jets were THIS close to making the playoffs this year, but just couldn't pull it off. The good news is that the Jets have a nice head coach in place, a good defense, and some fantastic offensive play makers to help build on for the future. The one thing they really lack is a young QB who can potentially be a franchise type guy. Ryan Fitzpatrick is OK and Geno Smith is dog shit. As long as the average Fitzpatrick is behind center, the Jets will remain average. It only makes sense.

In 2016, the Buffalo Bills New Year's resolution should be:

BE A BETTER FOOTBALL TEAM! Once again the Bills miss the playoffs and once again no one is surprised....

New England Patriots (12-4): 10      Miami Dolphins (6-10): 20

In 2016, the New England Patriots' New Year's resolution should be:

Are you kidding me?

MO RINGS! FEED ME SEYMOUR!

In 2016, the Miami Dolphins' New Year's resolution should be:

Find a good head coach who can bring some excitement to this team. Also, it's time to figure out what you have in Ryan Tannehill. Is he a franchise type guy? After a promising year last season, he regressed in almost every category on-the-field this season. Was that all a product of the mess that was the Miami Dolphins front office or has Tannehill peaked as a player? Good luck finding that one out Miami fans....

New Orleans Saints (7-9): 20      Atlanta Falcons (8-8): 17

I'm not even going to waste my time with these guys....

Baltimore Ravens (5-11): 16      Cincinnati Bengals (12-4): 24

In 2016, the Baltimore Ravens' New Year's resolution should be:

Take a good long hard look in the mirror and figure out where everything went wrong this season. The Ravens went from potential Super Bowl contenders to one of the laughing stocks of the NFL at various points during the season. So, what went wrong and how can they avoid it again next year? It's time to buckle down Ravens fans. Is this team heading for the abyss or was this just a one-year thing? I have faith in the Ravens and John Harbaugh that they will get this thing turned around quickly. One of the scariest things in the NFL is the Baltimore Ravens with a high draft pick. If they pick a defensive player, that guy is a surefire 10x NFL Pro Bowler.

In 2016, the Cincinnati Bengals' New Year's resolution should be:

Are you kidding me? A PLAYOFF WIN OF COURSE! This looks and sounds like the year that the Bengals will finally get it done. Can they? I don't know and I'm absolutely terrified to bet money on them to do so. Let's make it happen Bengals.

Pittsburgh Steelers (10-6): 28      Cleveland Browns (3-13): 12

In 2016, the Pittsburgh Steelers' New Year's resolution should be:

I can think of only a few things that would be much sweeter to the Steelers fans right now outside of going to Cincinnati and once again destroying their division rivals playoff hopes next week. The Bengals haven't won a playoff game in years and they draw the one team that "nobody wants to play in the playoffs". Will the Steelers play spoiler next weekend? Signs are pointing to "yes". And why stop there, right? Every so often there's a wildcard team that catches fire and wins the whole thing. Maybe that team will be the Steelers?

In 2016, the Cleveland Browns' New Year's resolution should be:

To do everything they have been doing as a football organization....except the EXACT opposite of that. The Browns are a joke. Everyone knows this. They are once again looking for a head coach and they have no franchise QB as the one guy they thought could potentially be the guy (Johnny Football) seemingly gave them the middle finger this weekend and announced that he wanted to go to the Dallas Cowboys (LOL) to be their back-up. Disgusting. Just like this Cleveland football organization.....

Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11): 6      Houston Texans (9-7): 30

In 2016, the Jacksonville Jaguars' New Year's resolution should be:

Continue to build. Much like some other teams in the NFL, the Jaguars are one of the "lucky" teams that looks like they are turning their luck around. They seemingly have a pretty decent player as their franchise QB (the jury is still out on Blake Bortles, but it appears as though he can be the QB of a potential playoff team), their defense is improving, and they have some absolute studs on the offensive side of the ball. Unfortunately for Jacksonville, they still lack a lot of key pieces that pushes them into contender status. That could potentially change with another outstanding draft class. Can the Jags make a playoff run next season? It looks that way.

In 2016, the Houston Texans' New Year's resolution should be:

Can we find a franchise QB guys? You have a pretty good little team on paper. Hell, you're a playoff team and you just won the AFC South again. That's a pretty good achievement for a team that is lacking some talent at the most important position on the football field. Brian Hoyer is OK, but as long as Hoyer and his average set of skills are behind center in Houston, the entire team is just going to be "OK". Do you think that sits well with Justin James Watt?

Tennessee Titans (3-13): 24      Indianapolis Colts (7-9): 30

In 2016, the Tennessee Titans' New Year's resolution should be:

I know I'm repeating myself here, but the Titans problems are rather easy to fix. Get some new offensive linemen. Get some new offensive weapons. Watch the whole thing turn into absolute magic around Marcus Mariota next season. It's no secret that I love Mariota and I'm also turning into a big fan of Dorial Green-Beckham. The Titans are just a few key pieces (and a head coach named Chip Kelly) away from becoming real contenders in the NFL. You laugh now, but you won't be laughing next season.

In 2016, the Indianapolis Colts' New Year's resolution should be:

For some reason the Colts think it might be a good idea to fire Chuck Pagano. Pagano is a good coach in my opinion and I don't exactly agree with that decision. If the Colts fire Pagano, Indianapolis needs to bring in a new face who can turn this team around. The Colts went from playing in the AFC championship game to a team that could be firing their head coach and trying to fix a broken franchise QB. The Colts need to find an offensive guy who can bring a spark to this team and will help make people remember how good Andrew Luck can be. May I recommend a guy by the name of Chip Kelly?

Washington Redskins (9-7): 34      Dallas Cowboys (4-12): 23

In 2016, the Washington Redskins' New Year's resolution should be:

Kirk Cousins is their franchise QB, right? He's the guy that's going to take them to the promised land, right? He's the guy that can put the team on his back and lead them to a potential Super Bowl berth, right? I mean, he's the REAL DEAL, right?

Ya, I'm not sure either. If I'm the Redskins, we need to figure out what this guy is. He looks and feels like he can potentially be the guy in Washington but there was a time when Robert Griffin III felt and looked like he could be the guy in Washington. The Kirk Cousins era is going to be different though. RIGHT?

In 2016, the Dallas Cowboys' New Year's resolution should be:

Get healthy. This season turned ugly for the Cowboys the minute Tony Romo got injured. That's when Dallas' season took a turn for the worse. I still feel like the Cowboys are one of the most talented teams in the NFL when Romo's healthy, but that's a big "when". Also, Dallas should look into dumping Greg Hardy (just because) and doing their best to AVOID the Johnny Football drama. In case you haven't heard, the Browns and Manziel are done after Manziel no-showed some important meetings this past weekend. Now there are reports out that Manziel is done with the team and wants to go to the Cowboys. He's an entitled spoiled brat who thinks he can do whatever he wants. Dallas should do there best to avoid him like the plague and hopefully karma works it's magic and "Johnny Football" is the QB of the Manitoba Muskrats in the Canadian Football League next year.

Philadelphia Eagles (7-9): 35      New York Giants (6-10): 30

In 2016, the Philadelphia Eagles' New Year's resolution should be:

Can we get some stability in the front office Philadelphia? Whether head coach Chip Kelly deserved to get fired or not, everyone knows that in the NFL, you can't win without some sense of stability in the front office and Philly has lacked that for along time now. The Eagles need to find a new GM, have him hand pick his own head coach, and sit back and watch magic happen. Unfortunately that won't happen and Philly will continue to suck for the next few years.

Now, let's talk about Chip Kelly real fast because I know everyone's dying to hear my opinion on it. Did Chip deserve to get fired? Probably. And the reason why isn't because Chip Kelly is a horrible football coach, because he's not. The guy has been a head coach for only seven seasons now and this year was his first losing year. That's a tremendous resume. Kelly's problem was he's too much of a red ass and a control freak and his personality doesn't sit well with a lot of people....especially professional football players. All signs have pointed to Kelly trying to run the Eagles organization in the same fashion he ran the Oregon Ducks when he was their head coach, and that shit flies with college kids who are dying to play for a certain coach who's "revolutionizing" the game. That won't fly with professional football players unless you have a resume that looks an awful lot like "King of the Red Asses", Bill Belichick.

Kelly reportedly wants to remain in the NFL and there are already rumors that certain NFL teams are drooling over the possibility of landing him (San Francisco 49ers for example). Hopefully Chipper will learn his lesson and learn to R-E-L-A-X a little bit and trusts someone else to make personnel moves. If there's one thing Kelly isn't good at....it's being an NFL GM. Some of the moves he made last year have turned out to be awful moves (trading LeSean McCoy for Kiko Alonso, signing Byron Maxwell, signing DeMarco Murray, etc.) and hopefully in Chip's next go round, he doesn't try to maneuver his way into another front office position. It just doesn't fit him.

And for one last time.....

In 2016, the New York Giants' New Year's resolution should be:

If Tom Coughlin is walking out the door like the rumors say, the Giants need to hire a YOUNG exciting head coach who can help make this offense featuring Odell Beckham Jr. even more exciting. Maybe someone like Adam Gase? I don't know? Who do you want Giants fans? Chip Kelly? ::insert smiley face emoji::

Detroit Lions (7-9): 24      Chicago Bears (6-10): 20

Two more teams who aren't worth my time.....

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-10): 10      Carolina Panthers (15-1): 38

In 2016, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' New Year's resolution should be:

Continue to build. They have their franchise QB, it's just time to put the right pieces around him. There are a select few teams who can say that same thing in the National Football League.

In 2016, the Carolina Panthers' New Year's resolution should be:

Win the Super Bowl. The Panthers finished as the top team in the NFL regular season and it's time to put the cherry on top of the sundae in the form of a Super Bowl trophy. Cam Newton will likely win the Most Valuable Player trophy and that could only be the start of the hardware heading to Carolina. There's still along way for this team to go and anything can happen in the playoffs, but I'm buying that the Panthers will be the NFC representative when we get to the Super Bowl in a few weeks.

San Diego Chargers (4-12): 20      Denver Broncos (12-4): 27

In 2016, the San Diego Chargers' New Year's resolution should be:

Move to Los Angeles. Pretty simple.

In 2016, the Denver Broncos' New Year's resolution should be:

Win the Super Bowl. The Denver Broncos are probably the worst #1 seed I've seen in awhile. I honestly feel like if they make it to the Super Bowl from the AFC, it would be a miracle. With that said, we all know what's going on with Peyton Manning. Of course Manning came into the game this past weekend against San Diego and MAGICALLY led a comeback that led to the Broncos winning and locking up the #1 seed in the playoffs. Now Denver fans are back on the Peyton train and thinking the guy is MAGICALLY going to lead them to the Super Bowl. Am I the only one who remembers what Peyton looked like the last time he played a good defense? The Chiefs absolutely ate Manning alive and something tells me when Peyton runs into either the Bengals, Chiefs, Patriots, or Texans defense.....it could be more of the same. For the Broncos and Manning's sake, they need to win the Super Bowl and send their legend riding off into the sunset while they can.

Oakland Raiders (7-9): 17      Kansas City Chiefs (11-5): 23

In 2016, the Oakland Raiders' New Year's resolution should be:

Continue to build. Let's take a look at the check list for the Raiders:

Good head coach. Check.

Young franchise QB. Check.

Young play makers on offense. Check.

Young play makers on defense. Check.

The Raiders are finally starting to check all the boxes on the "NFL contenders list" and if they have another solid draft class, Oakland could very well be taking a trip to the post-season for the first time in ALONG time next season.

In 2016, the Kansas City Chiefs' New Year's resolution should be:

To finally win a playoff game. I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but the Chiefs haven't won a playoff game in over 20 years now. They are officially the hottest team in the NFL going into the playoffs. And the team they are playing in the first-round is a team they beat up in week one of the season. All signs are pointing towards Kansas City getting their first playoff win in what seems like forever, let's not blow it, OK guys?

Seattle Seahawks (10-6): 36      Arizona Cardinals (13-3): 6

In 2016, the Seattle Seahawks' New Year's resolution should be:

Win the Super Bowl again? The Seahawks have been one of the luckiest teams in the league the last few seasons. They don't need any more kind of luck. Because just when you think people are ready to start burying the Seahawks, they come out and have an impressive win like this against a team that many people felt was the best team in the NFL. If the Seahawks and Cardinals meet again in the playoffs, the Cardinals might look a lot like this....

In 2016, the Arizona Cardinals' New Year's resolution should be:

To never EVER play like they just played against the Seahawks this week. If that happens again, the Cardinals "Super Bowl dreams" just turned into "off-season nightmares". What the hell happened this week Arizona? YEESH!

St. Louis Rams (7-9): 16      San Francisco 49ers (5-11): 19

Ya.....

Minnesota Vikings (11-5): 20      Green Bay Packers (10-6): 13

In 2016, the Minnesota Vikings' New Year's resolution should be:

Make the NFC championship. The Vikings did the unthinkable this year and finally unseated the Green Bay Packers as NFC North champions. The next step for these Vikings is to make a run at the Super Bowl or at least...the NFC championship. If Minnesota can do that, this is very much a team with the arrow pointing up. I don't think a lot of people expect the Vikings to do much in the post-season so if they can come out and surprise some people, fans will be extremely jubilant heading into next season. With an impressive defense, a young exciting QB, and a good head coach in place. Minnesota looks and feels like they could be a good team in the NFL for awhile. Don't screw this up Vikings.

In 2016, the Green Bay Packers' New Year's resolution should be:

Let's get this thing fixed Packers. This season (even though it was a 10-win season) was kind of a disappointing one for Green Bay. Now, they do still have the chance to make a run in the post-season and erase the horrible memories of what this offense looked like in the regular season, but does anyone have ANY kind of confidence in that happening? No. I fully expect Green Bay to be eliminated early in the playoffs and I think everyone else does as well. Just a weird season for Aaron Rodgers and the boys.
