NFL Sunday Round-Up: Week 13

It's week 13 of the NFL season and it also happens to be Thanksgiving weekend. That means we are in a thankful mood here at the Ultimate Football Blog this week. Here's what every NFL team should be thankful for after their games this past weekend.....

The greatest Thanksgiving movie ever made

Chicago - 17 (5-7) @ Detroit 34 (8-4)

The Bears Are Thankful For:

-The season ending soon

- Not signing Jay Cutler to a fat extension so they can part ways and not be financially strapped for a few seasons. Oh wait. You mean it's the OTHER way around???

-Not having to play the Green Bay Packers again this season unless they meet in the playof.....errrr, let's just say not having to play the Green Bay Packers again.

The Lions Are Thankful For:

Calvin Johnson

Chicago Offensive MVP: Alshon Jeffery (9 catches, 71 receiving yards, 2 TD's)

Chicago Defensive MVP: Jared Allen (4 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 QB hits, 1 fumble recovery)

Detroit Offensive MVP: Calvin Johnson (11 catches, 146 receiving yards, 2 TD's)

Detroit Defensive MVP: Glover Quin (7 tackles, 1 interception)

Up next for Chicago: vs. Dallas (8-4)

Up next for Detroit: vs. Tampa Bay (2-10)

Philadelphia - 33 (9-3) @ Dallas - 10 (8-4)

The Eagles Are Thankful For:

-I know this is becoming an inside joke here at the Ultimate Football Blog, but what I don't think the average football fan realizes is how much of a QB guru Chip Kelly is. He can make average guys look good (he got Oregon to a National Title game with Darron Thomas running things), and that's exactly what he's done with Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez. Once Philadelphia gets a guy in their system who knows how to run Chip Kelly's offense to perfection and is extremely talented....watch out. That's why the Eagles are excited this guy will likely be in next year's NFL Draft:

If it happens, don't say I didn't warn you

-Chip Kelly. He's become one of the best head coaches in the league after only a year and a half. A lot of experts thought he would flame out in the NFL, but he's proven all those doubters wrong and is well on his way to perhaps a Super Bowl appearance or even more.

The Cowboys Are Thankful For:

-Having a fantastic offensive line that has changed their season around.

-Getting a rematch with the Eagles in two weeks.

-Winning more than three games this season like a certain moron who runs a football blog predicted.

Philadelphia Offensive MVP: LeSean McCoy (25 carries, 159 yards, 1 TD)

Philadelphia Defensive MVP: Nate Allen (2 tackles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 interception)

Dallas Offensive MVP: DeMarco Murray (20 carries, 73 rushing yards, 1 TD)

Dallas Defensive MVP: Barry Church (11 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 pass deflection)

Up next for Philadelphia: vs. Seattle (8-4)

Up next for Dallas: vs. @ Chicago (5-7)

Seattle - 19 (8-4) @ San Francisco - (7-5)

The Seahawks Are Thankful For:

Russell Wilson and Richard Sherman

The 49ers Are Thankful For:

-Not having to play the Seattle Seahawks on a weekly basis

-The off-season, because this team is an inconsistent mess right now. I originally had them pegged to win the Super Bowl (I changed my mind at the last minute fearing a regression), but this team is nowhere near a Super Bowl contender at the moment. Something needs to change. I don't know if getting rid of Jim Harbaugh is the answer, but evaluating the current starting QB would be a nice move. Colin Kaepernick is regressing at an alarming rate. I wonder if the 49ers wish they still had Alex Smith?

Seattle Offensive MVP: Russell Wilson (15 of 22 for 236 yards, 1 TD, 7 carries, 35 rushing yards, 118.8 QB rating)

Seattle Defensive MVP: Richard Sherman (2 tackles, 2 interceptions)

San Francisco Offensive MVP: Carlos Hyde (5 carries, 19 rushing yards, 3 catches, 38 receiving yards)

San Francisco Defensive MVP: Chris Borland (16 tackles, 1 tackle for loss)

Up next for Seattle: vs. @ Philadelphia (9-3)

Up next for San Francisco: vs. @ Oakland (1-11)

Washington - 27 (3-9) @ Indianapolis - 49 (8-4)

The Redskins Are Thankful For:

-The Off-season. Washington has a lot of areas on their football team that need improvement and the off-season couldn't get here fast enough for Redskins fans.

-Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston, Bryce Petty, Brett Hundley, Sean Mannion, etc. Basically any college quarterback in the draft is already better than anyone Washington currently has on their roster (don't give me that Colt McCoy is good crap).

-That they didn't trade FOUR first-round picks to move up to draft the bust that has become Robert Griffin III. No, instead they only traded THREE first-round picks to draft the bust that has become Robert Griffin IIII.

The Colts Are ThankFul For:

-C'mon now....

Andrew Luck. The best young QB in the NFL.

Washington Offensive MVP: Colt McCoy (31 of 47 for 392 yards, 3 TD's, 3 carries, 12 rushing yards, 113.1 QB rating)

Washington Defensive MVP: Ryan Clark (4 tackles, 1 interception)

Indianapolis Offensive MVP: Andrew Luck (19 of 27 for 370 yards, 5 TD's, 4 carries, 20 rushing yards, 137.0 QB rating)

Indianapolis Defensive MVP: D'Qwell Jackson (7 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 pass deflection, 1 fumble recovery, 1 TD)

Up next for Washington: vs. St. Louis (5-7)

Up next for Indianapolis: vs. @ Cleveland (7-5)

Tennessee - 21 (2-10) @ Houston - 45 (6-6)

The Titans Are Thankful For:

-What do you think?

Mariota actually looks decent in blue....

The Texans Are Thankful For:

-That they aren't the Titans.

-That they have the best defensive player in the league, J.J. Watt.

-That Ryan Fitzpatrick channeled his inner-Ben Roethlisberger and threw for six touchdown's on a piss poor Titans defense to keep the Texans alive in the playoff race.

Tennessee Offensive MVP: Kendall Wright (7 catches, 132 yards, 1 TD)

Tennessee Defensive MVP: Jason McCourty (7 tackles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 TD)

Houston Offensive MVP: Ryan Fitzpatrick (24 of 33 for 358 yards, 6 TD's, 147.5 QB rating)

Houston Defensive MVP: J.J. Watt (3 tackles, 2 sacks, 6 QB hits, 1 fumble recovery)

Up next for Tennessee: vs. New York Giants (3-9)

Up next for Houston: vs. @ Jacksonville (2-10)

Cleveland - 10 (7-5) @ Buffalo - 26 (7-5)

The Browns Are Thankful For:

Johnny Jam-Boogie

-Johnny Manziel. I predicted last week in this blog that the sinking Browns would panic on Hoyer and put in Johnny Football to help make matters worse better. Hoyer was 18 of 30 with 2 interceptions against a good Bills defense and Cleveland coaches finally did it! Manziel came into the game and was.....well.....I guess he was alright. The real fun starts Monday though as we all get to start talking about whether or not the Browns will permanently make Manziel the starter. Most teams wouldn't ever consider it, but it is the BROWNS we are talking about here.

The Bills Are Thankful For:

-That they got to play the Browns and the Jets in back-to-back weeks. Playing two crappy teams and beating them has got the Bills back into prime contention to grab a wildcard spot come playoff time.

-

Cleveland Offensive MVP: Miles Austin (7 catches, 86 yards)

Cleveland Defensive MVP: Craig Robertson (11 tackles, 1 QB hit)

Buffalo Offensive MVP: Fred Jackson (21 carries, 70 rushing yards, 3 catches, 27 receiving yards)

Buffalo Defensive MVP: Da'Norris Searcy (4 tackles, 3 passes deflected, 2 interceptions)

Up next for Cleveland: vs. Indianapolis (8-4)

Up next for Buffalo: vs. @ Denver (9-3)

San Diego - 34 (8-4) @ Baltimore - 33 (7-5)

The Chargers Are ThankFul For:

-Winning what could potentially be a huge game with playoff implications against the Ravens. Not only that, but the Chargers traveled to Baltimore to pick up the win. That's a good weekend.

-Those awesome throwback powder blue jersey's, which remain the coolest looking uniforms to date in the NFL:

I almost want to be a Chargers fan just so I can sport those colors.....

The Ravens Are Thankful For:

-Not being associated with Ray Rice anymore.

-Still being in the playoff hunt, regardless of the loss against the Chargers.

-The schedule gets a little easier with games against the Jaguars, Texans, and Browns left, so the playoffs are still a very real possibility for the Ravens. If they do get to the playoffs, watch out.

San Diego Offensive MVP: Keenan Allen (11 catches, 121 yards, 2 TD's)

San Diego Defensive MVP: Corey Liuget (6 tackles, 3 tackles for loss)

Baltimore Offensive MVP: Joe Flacco (19 of 31 for 225 yards, 2 TD's, 104. QB rating)

Baltimore Defensive MVP: Daryl Smith (8 tackles, 1 interception)

Up next for San Diego: vs. New England (9-3)

Up next for Baltimore: vs. @ Miami (6-5)

New York Giants - 24 (3-9) @ Jacksonville - 25 (2-10)

The Entire NFL Is Thankful For:

-Not being the New York Giants or the Jacksonville Jaguars....

NY Giants Offensive MVP: Rashad Jennings (26 carries, 91 yards, 2 TD's)

NY Giants Defensive MVP: Devon Kennard (3 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 tackles for loss)

Jacksonville Offensive MVP: Blake Bortles (21 of 35 for 194 yards, 1 TD, 5 carries, 68 rushing yards, 84.7 QB rating)

Jacksonville Defensive MVP: J.T. Thomas (12 tackles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 TD)

Up next for NY Giants: vs. @ Tennessee (2-10)

Up next for Jacksonville: vs. Houston (6-6)

Cincinnati - 14 (8-3-1) @ Tampa Bay - 13 (2-10)

The Bengals Are Thankful For:

-Getting to play the Bucs.

-Even though Andy Dalton did his best to try and give this game away for the Bengals, the rest of the team wasn't having it.

-This was a big win for the Bengals considering a loss could have ultimately cost them a division title in a stacked AFC North. Plus, don't you think Bengals fans would have been cursing their team if they had lost this game to the dreadful Bucs and then missed the playoffs by a game? Every win matters in the NFL, no matter how ugly it is.

The Buccaneers Are Thankful For:

Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston

Cincinnati Offensive MVP: A.J. Green (4 catches, 57 receiving yards, 1 TD)

Cincinnati Defensive MVP: Terence Newman (5 tackles, 2 passes deflected, 1 interception)

Tampa Bay Offensive MVP: Doug Martin (18 carries, 58 rushing yards, 1 TD)

Tampa Bay Defensive MVP: Alterraun Verner (6 tackles, 1 interception)

Up next for Cincinnati: vs. Pittsburgh (7-5)

Up next for Tampa Bay: vs. @ Detroit (8-4)

Oakland - 0 (1-11) @ St. Louis - 52 (5-7)

The Raiders Are Thankful For:

-Beating the Chiefs last week? Knowing their players, they were still celebrating that victory and completely forgot that there were more games left on the schedule. Stupid Raiders.

-That's seriously all they have had to be thankful for since losing to the Tampa Bay Bucs in the Super Bowl over a decade ago. They made sure to follow up one of the greatest moments in Oakland football history in the last decade with one of the biggest stinkers in Oakland football history. Stupid Raiders.

The Rams Are Thankful For:

-Getting to play the Raiders.

-An easier schedule the rest of the way. Outside of a game in Seattle, the Rams have winnable games the rest of the way and should finish 8-8 on the season. That's pretty huge for a team that is using a guy they found on Craigslist as their quarterback.

-This win (and their roster) should remind Los Angeles fans that the RAMS are the team you want to play in L.A., not the team they played against. Here's a nice little reminder....

Oakland Offensive MVP: No one. No one is the MVP on offense when you get shut out.

Oakland Defensive MVP: D.J. Hayden (6 tackles, 1 tackle for loss)

St. Louis Offensive MVP: Tre Mason (14 carries, 117 rushing yards, 3 catches, 47 receiving yards, 3 TD's)

St. Louis Defensive MVP: Trumaine Johnson (6 tackles, 2 interceptions, 1 TD)

Up next for Oakland: vs. San Francisco (7-5)

Up next for St. Louis: vs. @ Washington (3-9)

New Orleans - 35 (5-7) @ Pittsburgh - 32 (7-5)

The Saints Are Thankful For:

-Playing in the NFC South. Just because they are 5-7, doesn't mean the Saints aren't tied for first place in their division! That's right bitches. Potentially playoff bound and they don't even have a winning record......

The Steelers Are Thankful For:

-The Browns and Ravens also losing. That means the inconsistent Steelers (who can't seem to beat bad teams) are still not to far out of first place in the AFC North. Andy Dalton will make sure that the Bengals don't get too big of a lead, but get your shit together Pittsburgh.

New Orleans Offensive MVP: Drew Brees (19 of 27 for 257 yards, 5 TD's, 140.0 QB rating)

New Orleans Defensive MVP: Kenny Vaccaro (8 tackles, 1 interception)

Pittsburgh Offensive MVP: Le'Veon Bell (21 carries, 95 rushing yards, 8 catches, 159 receiving yards, 1 TD)

Pittsburgh Defensive MVP: Jason Worilds (10 tackles, 1 sack, 2 tackles for loss)

Up next for New Orleans: vs. Carolina (3-8-1)

Up next for Pittsburgh: vs. @ Cincinnati (8-3-1)

Carolina - 13 (3-8-1) @ Minnesota - 31 (5-7)

The Panthers Are Thankful For:

-Nothing. This team has nothing to be thankful for right now. They were a playoff team just one year ago and now they are a dumpster fire. Cam Newton is officially awful and the Panthers might consider potentially taking a look elsewhere. I don't know what happened to the guy, but he's just not the same player he once was.

The Vikings Are Thankful For:

-Teddy Bridgewater. While the rookie quarterback has looked irrational at times, he had a good game against Carolina and the Vikings find themselves just two games away from being a .500 football team. Minnesota fans have to be happy with what they've seen from Teddy early on in his career.

-Anthony Barr. The rookie linebacker is playing great football and gives the Vikings fans a reason to be happy for the future on the defensive side of the ball as well.

Carolina Offensive MVP: Jonathan Stewart (12 carries, 85 rushing yards, 2 catches, 25 receiving yards)

Carolina Defensive MVP: Luke Kuechly (9 tackles, 2 sacks)

Minnesota Offensive MVP: Teddy Bridgewater (15 of 21 for 138 yards, 2 carries, 12 rushing yards, 2 TD's, 120.7 QB rating)

Minnesota Defensive MVP: Everson Griffen (5 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 TD)

Up next for Carolina: vs. @ New Orleans (5-7)

Up next for Minnesota: vs. New York Jets (2-9)

Arizona - 18 (9-3) @ Atlanta - 29 (5-7)

The Cardinals Are Thankful For:

-Carson Palmer. Boy, does this team miss that guy or what?

-After having to travel to Seattle and then to Atlanta, the Cardinals are more than ready to return home next week for a game against the Chiefs.

The Falcons Are Thankful For:

-Julio Jones, who had a career day today.

-Steven Jackson apparently watching "Cocoon" and running like he was in his early-20's again.

-NFC South haters. The Falcons just beat the team that everyone thought was the "best team in the NFC" for the first eleven weeks of the season.

Arizona Offensive MVP: Jaron Brown (7 catches, 75 receiving yards)

Arizona Defensive MVP: Rashad Johnson (6 tackles, 1 QB hit, 1 interception, 1 TD)

Atlanta Offensive MVP: Julio Jones (10 catches, 189 receiving yards, 1 TD)

Atlanta Defensive MVP: Dwight Lowery (5 tackles, 2 QB hits, 1 interception)

Up next for Arizona: vs. Kansas City (7-5)

Up next for Atlanta: vs. @ Green Bay (9-3)

New England - 21 (9-3) @ Green Bay - 26 (9-3)

The Patriots Are Thankful For:

-Tom Brady. The guy is the pure definition of "reliable". There were a lot of people who were ready to start shoveling dirt on Brady's NFL career a few weeks ago. Those people are understandably quiet at the moment.

-Not having to play Green Bay at home again. A lot of people called this game a potential "Super Bowl Preview". If that was the case, the Patriots should be happy to know that if they face the Packers again on a football field this season, it won't be at Lambeau Field.

The Packers Are Thankful For:

-What else?

New England Offensive MVP: Tom Brady (22 of 35 for 245 yards, 2 TD's, 102.7 QB rating)

New England Defensive MVP: Dont'a Hightower (10 tackles, 1 sack, 3 tackles for loss)

Green Bay Offensive MVP: Aaron Rodgers (24 of 38 for 368 yards, 2 TD's, 112.6 QB rating)

Green Bay Defensive MVP: Clay Matthews (6 tackles, 1 pass deflection, 1 QB hit)

Up next for New England: vs. @ San Diego (8-4)

Up next for Green Bay: vs. Atlanta (5-7)
