How does it work? Well, here's a brief description of how this came together, the rules, seeding, and things of that nature:
-Every NFL team will have a representative. The representatives will be connected to the teams either by fandom, employment, or a connection to a player on the team.
-Seeds will be determined by how the teams finished the 2014 regular season, and the brackets will be divided by the NFL conferences & divisions. After the divisional rounds, the AFC East winner will go against the AFC North winner while the AFC South winner will go against the AFC West winner in the conference semi-finals. The same will apply to the NFC side of the bracket.
-The matchups will be voted on by the Ultimate Football Blog staff, consisting of Dustin James, Jeremy Lambert & myself.
Today we will reveal the American Football Conference competitors & brackets.
Baltimore Ravens: Stacy Keibler
-Former WWE Diva
-Former Ravens cheerleader
I, for one, was not surprised when Stacy's relationship with noted Bengals fan George Clooney didn't work out.
Buffalo Bills: Summer Sanders
-Won two gold medals at the 1992 Summer Olympics
-TV hostess, appeared on 3rd season of Celebrity Apprentice
Summer became a Bills fan after meeting her current husband in 2003, so she didn't get to be a fan when they were actually good. The Bills need all the attractive fans they can get.
Cincinnati Bengals: Katherine Webb
-Miss Alabama USA (2012)
-Wife of Bengals QB A.J. McCarron
One of the main reasons I hope McCarron would be good enough to take over for Andy Dalton is that we'd end up seeing a lot more of Brent Musburger's favorite lady. I'm pretty sure we didn't get a single shot of her last season. Unacceptable.
Cleveland Browns: Sara Carnes
-Browns In-Game Host
-Former Fox Sports Ohio Girl
Considering how large the Browns fanbase supposedly is, there wasn't much competition here. Condi Rice & a semi-famous Josh Gordon callgirl were the other finalists. Yikes.
Denver Broncos: Lindsey Vonn
-Won four skiing World Cup championships (2008-2010, 2012)
-Olympic Gold Medalist in downhill skiing (2010)
Lindsey grew up in Colorado rooting on the Denver Broncos, and has even got her main squeeze Tiger Woods rooting for them. I'm not sure if that's a point in her favor or against her at this point.
Indianapolis Colts: Ariel Meredith
-Multiple appearances in the SI Swimsuit Issue
-Engaged to Colts WR Hakeem Nicks
Nicks is a free agent and may be heading elsewhere next season, in which case I don't know who the heck would represent the Colts in a column like this. It was one of the tougher searches.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Lindsey Duke
-Model & Instagram star
-Formerly dated Jaguars QB Blake Bortles.
The Jaguars selection was pretty limited otherwise, to be honest.
Kansas City Chiefs: Rachel Santschi
-Chiefs sideline reporter
Dustin James suggested that Rachel get the nod here. I'm not allowed to argue with Dustin on matters involving the Kansas City Chiefs or Oregon Ducks per my contract, and it's a pretty solid selection anyway.
Miami Dolphins: Lauren Tannehill
-Star of Hard Knocks (2012)
-Married to Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill
Lauren has been a longtime favorite of the Ultimate Football Blog. Well, as long as a site that's less than a year old can have a favorite.
New England Patriots: Maria Menounos
-Has regularly appeared on Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood & Extra
-Undefeated in WWE competition
There is no shortage of ladies with some sort of affiliation with the Patriots either as diehard fans, bandwagon fans or wifes/girlfriends. I gave Maria the nod because she's been out with her fandom for awhile now & because I've had a thing for her since the Channel One News days. Good times.
New York Jets: Kate Upton
-SI Swimsuit Issue Cover Model (2012, 2013)
Kate used to say she was a Buccaneers fan because her sister worked for them, but a closer look reveals that she follows the Jets on Twitter & goes to games on Instagram. I mean, neither team is a great choice, but you won't see me knocking her for it.
Oakland Raiders: Naya Rivera
-Actress in Glee
-Sister of Raiders TE Mychal Rivera
Naya's occasional appearances at games are pretty much the only thing Oakland has going for them at this point.
Pittsburgh Steelers: January Jones
-Actress in Mad Men, American Wedding & X-Men: First Class
I love January's work & most things about her, but the fact that she's a Steeler fan means that she has to go below Jennifer Lawrence in the X-Men: First Class Power Rankings. Especially since J-Law is a Louisville girl.
San Diego Chargers: Kendra Wilkinson
-Featured on The Girls Next Door & Kendra
Kendra grew up a Chargers fan so she gets credit for that instead of the various teams that her husband Hank Baskett played for over the years.
Tennessee Titans: Faith Hill
-Former Sunday Night Football theme song performer
Nashville is full of attractive country musicians. Faith is one that is loyal to the Titans, and has closer ties to football than most of them, so she gets the nod here.
And no, the AFC bracket!
Come back next time when we reveal the NFC side of the tournament!
