In the Spotlight:
(Here we will focus on a draft prospect that I feel is an absolute stud and a surefire NFL player...)

Jaylon Smith (Linebacker, Notre Dame)

Height: 6'2

Weight: 225

Scouting Report: Very good in pass coverage. Exceptional athlete with an NFL type body and extreme speed and quickness. Truly exceptional sideline-to-sideline speed. Good tackler with the skills to be extremely disruptive on-the-field. Talented enough that he could play more than just one position at the next level. Doesn't have a lot of weaknesses outside of his lack of strength.

Player Comparison: Patrick Willis

Brief Synopsis: Jaylon Smith is arguably my favorite player eligible to be drafted in the 2016 NFL Draft. From what I've seen of him on tape, I absolutely love the guy as a player and I fully believe he's the closest thing to a surefire pick in the draft. Any team that grabs this guy is going to get a defensive player who will be a force on the field for years. Perhaps the only thing stopping him from being a guaranteed top 3 pick in the draft is the position he plays and the fact that he got injured in Notre Dame's bowl game against Ohio State and may have suffered a significant knee injury. Due to the knee injury, Smith's draft stock has a legit chance of dropping him into the late-20's. That means a team like the New England Patriots or even the Seattle Seahawks could have a real chance at grabbing a guy who might end up as the most talented player in the draft this year. Stop me if you've heard that one before. I'm here to tell the NFL teams that are drafting in the top 10 to DRAFT Jaylon Smith regardless of how bad his injury is. You don't want to pass up on a guy who looks like he could be a Pro Bowler in the league for 10+ years because he suffered one injury in college. That would be an astronomical mistake by the teams drafting in the top 10, but then again....there's a reason those teams are drafting in the top 10 to begin with.

NFL Draft News & Rumors

-Draft experts everywhere are split on the future of Penn State QB Christian Hackenberg. Hackenberg just announced his intentions to enter the NFL Draft this year, but experts are split on exactly what kind of prospect the kid is. It wasn't too long ago that Hackenberg was widely believed to be the top QB prospect in the class, but the more he played, the more it seemed like his draft stock suffered (not a good sign obviously). Now there are some people out there who wouldn't draft the guy until the 3rd round or later. This is definitely one of the names we'll want to watch as the Combine and other things approach. Hackenberg has a legit shot at moving up into potentially the first or second rounds or even dropping out of the draft altogether. Buckle in Penn State fans. The next few months are going to be interesting.

-Rob Gronkowski's little brother Glenn announced his intentions to enter the NFL Draft this past weekend. "Lil Gronk" is currently playing FB for the Kansas State Wildcats and could potentially play a number of positions in the NFL. I'm not the kind of guy who says team should draft guys based on bloodline alone, but if there was ever a time to draft a guy based on his last name....this could be that time.

-One guy who's draft stock took a huge hit this week? TCU QB Trevone Boykin. Even though I was luke warm on Boykin's NFL Draft stock as it is, Boykin did himself no favors after getting arrested for assault on a police officer right before TCU's bowl game against Oregon. The arrest shows bad judgement on Boykin's part (a HUGE red flag for NFL teams, especially when it comes to the QB position) and everyone knows that NFL teams are becoming extremely reluctant to sign or draft anyone with a violent past (well, except for the Dallas Cowboys that is). Boykin not only cost himself money by acting like a fool this week, but he also guaranteed himself that he's not getting drafted in the first couple rounds of the NFL Draft this year.
